Abstract:

In the following research, Lead magnesium niobate relaxor ferroelectric (PMN-PZT) ceramic powders were synthesized using the combustion method grand urea as the fuel for the first time. The starting materials used were lead nitrate, magnesium acetate, niobium oxide, zirconium nitrate, titanium oxide.     The raw materials were first mixed using the general formula of (1-x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3, with  x=0.3. The synthesized powders were characterized using XRD, SEM and FTIR spectroscopy techniques. The X-ray diffraction patterns revealed that the structure of the prepared samples were tetragonal at 500,600,700 and 800 oC. However, the monoclinic phase was detected in the samples calcined at 800 oC and the amount of pyrocholore phase also drastically decreased at this temperature. The band gap widths of the samples were measured via UV spectroscopy in the wave number range of 400-4000cm-1. The results show that by increasing the calcination temperature, the band gap width of the prepared samples decreases. SEM micrographs verify that by rising the calcination temperature, the structure of the prepared samples becomes more homogenous.

Synthesis and Processing of Ferroelectric Pzt Powders, Ceramics and Films

In this chapter, various synthesis routes for PZT powders and fabrication processing techniques for PZT ceramics and films are reviewed. Emphasis is placed on chemical routes, especially the hydrothermal synthesis of PZT powders. The principles of the colloidal chemistry in ceramic suspension and its application to the colloidal processing of ceramics and films, especially when using sub-micron...

A rapid microwave route for the synthesis of ZnS nanoparticles

ZnS  nanoparticles  were  synthesized  via  a  simple  surfactant  free microwave  route.  In  this  synthesis, thioacetamide  was  used  as sulfur  source.  The effects  of different  parameters  such  as  type of zinc precursor,  time  and  power  of  irradiation  on  the  morphology and  particle  size  of  the  products  have been  investigated.  The nanostructures  were  characterized  by ...

The effect of fuel type on the synthesis of LiMn1.5Ni0.5O4 powders by solution combustion route

In this research LiMn1.5Ni0.5O4 nano powders that are used as cathode material for lithium-ion batteries were prepared by solution combustion synthesis route. Cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), mixture of “CTAB and glycine” and also mixture of “CTAB and citric acid” were used as fuel using fuel to oxidant ratio of 0.5. The effect of fuel type on microstructure and electrochemical properti...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
